Special Tests Used in Musculoskeletal System Evaluation: Validity, Sensitivity and Specificity

Musculoskeletal system evaluations are special tests and measurements used by healthcare professionals, especially physiotherapists, to evaluate the condition and functional capacities of the musculoskeletal system. These special tests enable the investigation of the muscle, bone, joint, and nervous systems, which are the source of the complaints of the people being evaluated, and are an important tool for creating a physiotherapy and rehabilitation treatment program.

The book includes the special tests used in evaluating the musculoskeletal system in each joint or region and the purposes of use, application positions, positive findings, and important points of these special tests. Additionally, the reliability, sensitivity, specificity, and positive and negative likelihood ratio of each specific test are included by referring to the literature. In conclusion, this book will provide comprehensive information on the reliability, sensitivity, and specificity of specific tests used in musculoskeletal evaluation.

I would like to thank all the chapter authors who worked devotedly in preparing this book and whose great support I received, and all our students who helped us with the visual photographs that are very important for the book's creation.

It will be an important reference guide for those working in the health field, especially physiotherapists, who evaluate the musculoskeletal system, and a helpful reference for students and researchers.
