Paper and Cardboard Packaging Technique

Pulp and paper production is an industry that requires multidisciplinary work in which many branches of science are used jointly to produce production. After paper is produced, which is an interdisciplinary work, it is transformed into new products used in many different areas. Paper and cardboard production is a complex process that goes through many stages until it becomes the final product. Achieving the quality of the final product requires, first of all, a good understanding of the process. For this, it is necessary to clearly determine the properties expected from the final product, paper and cardboard, starting from the structure of the raw material, production technologies, and the areas in which the produced product will be used.

We have discussed the lecture notes on cellulose and paper production, which we have been teaching as an elective course for many years, and the notes we have created by using many sources on the subject, with the idea of being a resource that students who will take courses on packaging, industry employees, and people who are interested in this subject can benefit from. This resource book both provides information about paper and cardboard, which are the main raw materials of paper-based packaging, and discusses the issue of increasing the added value of paper and cardboard by converting them into a new product or packaging form.

It also provides information about packaging made from suitable paper and cardboard and their properties. In addition, this book includes tests that determine the quality of paper and cardboard and their printability, as well as printing and design tests. The book includes paper and board classes, printing, design, and tests. It was also emphasized that environmental awareness and recycling attract attention in the circular economy today and that the sector is an environmentally friendly product that is sustainable in the long term.
